I have always been self-sufficient and self-motivated to produce, and after a childhood spent overseas I came to boarding school in the U.S. at the age of fourteen. After becoming a dad, I quit the workforce for eight years to home-school my kids, who then went on to Westmont College and UCLA.
While widely exposed to the world, I was not particularly career-minded and lacked a singular professional purpose. Since reading the Bitcoin White Paper I have found that purpose. My work now revolves around explaining to everyone what I see as a transformational technology.
I most enjoy giving in-person lessons to anyone interested in bitcoin and blockchains. Online learning is certainly efficient, but it lacks some of the spontaneity and give-and-take that my students and I have taken away from the experience.
In pursuit of more knowledge and academic credentials, I earned the MIT Blockchain Course Certificate, the Saylor Academy Certificate and took various Blockchain Council classes on the topic.
After several years of study and reading, I also decided to write a book "Why Bitcoin?" directed to people who want a non-technical overview of the transformational elements in the technology.
I continue to study and lecture in the Santa Barbara area.
